Summary: Fourty seven patients affected by haemorrhoids were treated by phenol injection during an office procedure. The Autors discuss the rationale and detail the technique employed. The injection treatment was successful in 91.5% cases and 95.7% patients found the postoperative period generally free from pain. To obtain a complete cure, repetition of the treatment was necessary for 32% of the patients. Phenol ijection treatment requires a careful selection of suitable patients in order to obtain a higth sucess rate.
