Summary: In this study, 35 patients with ovarian serous tumours have been retrospectively evaluated by immunocytochemistry and cytometric analysis. The series comprised 10 adenomas, 11 adenocarcinomas and 14 tumours of low malignant potential. DNA content, c-erb-2 protein and MIB-1expression were evaluated on paraffin embedded specimens. Statistical correlation was evident between MIB-1 expression and the three categories of tumours: in adenomas MIB-1 expression ranged from 0 to 2.1%(median value 0.7%), in tumours of low malignant potential from 1.8% to 7 %(median value 4.7%) while in adenocarcinomas median value was 7.4%(range 1.9%- 21.9%). No statistical correlation was found among other proliferation markers and the three categories of tumours.
